Bicycle rally on world health day

A Bicycle Rally was organized jointly by the NSS unit of the college and Department of Physical Education to celebrate World Health Day on April 7, 2021 under the direction of Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari. Prof. Kanwaljeet Singh (Coordinator NSS), Dr. Rakesh Kumar (Co-cordinator, NSS), Dr. Mandeep Singh (Head, Department of Physical Education) Prof. Ranjit, Prof. Manjinder Sood (Programme Officers) were joined by Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Prof. Suresh Mago, Prof. Naveen Joshi, Prof. Gulshan, and NSS volunteers. A total of 20 members participated in the rally. World Health Day is celebrated as an international health awareness day and is listed among the eleven global health campaigns marked by World Health Organization (WHO). The objective of this rally was to inculcate in students the importance of exercise and good health.
The rally started at 6:30a. m. from Doaba College Main Gate and reached village Ballan ground at 7:15a. m.The members were welcomed by Mr. Deepa, the Sarpanch of Ballan village. The event started with a floral welcome of Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari by Mr. Deepa followed by a floral welcome of Mr. Deepa by Doaba college members. Prof. Kanwaljit Singh briefed the students about therelationship between health with economics. He stressed that only healthy nations can become economically stable. Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari motivated the students to adopt a healthy life style. He explained the three categories of health i.e., spiritual health, mental health and physical health. He also assured Mr. Deepa that Doaba College is willing to help the village in various projects related to their development. Mr. Deepa thanked the Doaba college team for coming to their village and highlighted the importance of cycling in improving physical health.
Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Prof. Suresh Mago and Dr. Mandeep Singh demonstrated various physical exercises to all the participants which could be helpful in maintaining good health. All the participants took refreshment and came back to college.
