Students of bachelors in journalism and mass communication bagged top university positions

Five students of Fifth semester of B.A. Journalism & Mass Communication of Doaba College brought accolades to the college by attaining outstanding positions in December 2020-21 examinations, conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University. Meetali stood fourth, Nikita eighth and Anchal bagged the tenth position in university examinations. Rashi Rawal and Shivalika made the college proud by sharing the twelfth position in the same.

Dept of Biotechnology Organised Biotech Bootcamp

Department of Biotechnology of Doaba College  Jalandhar organized a three-day online BIOTECH BOOT CAMP under the Aegis of DBT Star College Status Programme (DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI). Dr. Dharam Singh, Principal Scientist (Biotechnology Division) , CSIR- IHBT, Palampur , Dr Karambir Kaur Project Scientist NABI, Mohali  and Dr PK Sehajpal-Consultant Dyo Biotechnologies Singapore acted as resource persons .They were accorded hearty welcome by Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari, Dr Rajiv Khosla,Coordinator, Biotech Boot Camp and HoD, Dr. Poonam Bhagat, Prof Smile and 50 participants

Doaba College Inaugurated Green Guard Campaign

The NSS Department of Doaba College Jalandhar celebrated the launching ceremony of “Green Guard Campaign” under directions of Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari. Sh. Karnesh Sharma, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jalandhar was the chief guest. Prof. Kanwaljit Singh Coordinator NSS, Prof. Arshdeep Singh, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Vikas Jain, Dr. Rajnish Saini, Prof. Jaswinder Singh, staff members and 40 volunteers of NSS and NCC attended the ceremony.

Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Prof. Kanwaljit Singh and Prof. Arshdeep Singh welcomed the chief guest with potted plant and a memento. Prof. Kanwaljit Singh briefed the audience about the various activities undertaken by NSS during the year. The Principal also welcomed the chief guest and appreciated his sincere efforts for making Jalandhar city as one of the model cities of Punjab. He also explained the motive of campaign where students will not just click their geo tagged photographs with plants but also guard it by regular watering and pruning. The campaign aims at increasing the green cover of the Jalandhar city.
Shri Karnesh Sharma thanked the Principal for inviting him to launch the technology-driven plantation drive i.e., Green Guard Campaign. He assured of giving his full cooperation in all future projects of college. He also planted Santalum album (Safed chandan) tree in college campus.

Prof. Arshdeep Singh thanked the Principal for his whole hearted help in executing the launching ceremony. He also thanked all NSS members, staff members and students for their cooperation.

Doaba College Jalandhar Celebrated 75th Independence Day

75th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated by the teaching, non-teaching staff and students of Doaba College in open air theatre with great enthusiasm and fervor. The ceremony started at 9 a.m. with the arrival of Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari who hoisted the national flag along with NCC cadets, students and staff members. The proud moment was followed by National Anthem. Students expressed their emotions in the form of patriotic songs, dances and poetry. Dance performances by Shreya, Jyotika and Muskan and poetry by Raja flooded the whole atmosphere with the feelings of love and pride for the country. NCC cadet Shivang Tripathi also delivered a speech to commemorate the heroes who had struggled for India’s Independence.
The ceremony ended with the highly motivational speech by Principal Dr. Pradeep Bhandari who not only threw light on the long and consistent efforts put in by the freedom fighters for the country but also urged the students for collective consciousness to achieve collective excellence. He emphasized that all of us would be independent in true sense only if we go for collective development instead of isolated progress. He applauded the enthusiasm of students and efforts put in by the staff in organizing the event. This event was organized by Student Welfare Committee of the college under the able guidance of conveners Prof. Surjeet Kaur and Prof. Sonia Kalra

Doaba College felicitates Anurag Thakur

Sh. Chander Mohan- President Arya Shiksha Mandal & College Managing Committee felicitated alumnus Anurag Thakur on being elevated as Cabinet Minister- Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports in Modi Government. He said that Anurag Thakur was an outstanding student and ace cricketer of Doaba College. His father Sh. Prem Kumar Dhumal- Former Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh was a par excellence teacher in Department of English of college for 8 years which is a matter of pride for all Doabians.

Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that renowned alumnus Anurag Thakur did his BA from 1991 to 1994 and MA Political Science from 1994 to 1996 with flying colours and brought laurels to his institution. Dr. Bhandari said that every student of Doaba College takes inspiration from the path followed by its distinguished student- Anurag Thakur and aspires to touch the heights of glory in future. The Managing Committee, Teaching & Non Teaching Staff and students heartily congratulates Anurag Thakur on this great achievement.
